Monumental Rooms of Sansovino's Library

It is not only a library that has valuable examples of Byzantine and Venetian bound books, as well as illuminated manuscripts, early printed books and illuminated codes, but also a museum. Its building was designed by Jacopo Sansovino, constructed during 1537 to 1553, with work on frescoes and other decorations continuing until 1560. In 1588, Vincenzo Scamozzi finalized the construction of the other five bays  after Sansovino's death, still to Sansovino's design, next to the Zeccca, Sansovino's building for the Venetian mint, now integrated in the Marciana Library. On show, important works by Tiziano Vecellio, Paolo Veronese and  Tintoretto.
